The Truth about Space Data Centers

I love the Real Engineering channel, always good analysis of things. Each time I see someone talk about space data centers, I am flummoxed and how it would all work in an unmanned capacity, even with rapidly dropping launch costs. I had thought that they were going to take physical heatsinks up there (heavy!) but this implies that they will be doing radiative cooling with liquids, which just seems…bonkers.

Anyway, I am mostly posting so I remember to talk about this on a future episode of The Amp Hour, but this is one piece of the new space companies I have not gotten behind. There are a lot of reasons to increase launch capabilities, but the whole “servers in space” feels like it’s mostly to collect VC money that is hungry for more AI … stuff.
