KiCad Project Status (v9 and beyond) with Wayne Stambaugh

I was sad I couldn’t make it to KiCon 2025 in the US this year, but they had great recordings! The update with Wayne is always a great way to see what has been updated and what’s coming next

The AV quality at the venue was great, the recordings reflect that. Great job Kicad!

Thanks for posting the link Chris! You were definitely missed at the con!

It was really great meeting folks there, and I’m looking forward to next year!

Ha ha, I learned that both Wayne and I share something in common… He is also a Pennsylvania redneck!

I used some of my obscene business profits to attend and give a talk. I found it valuable.

Features aside, I had great chats with the devs. It was clear that that the project infrastructure and longevity was a focus. I’ll certainly be attending again

Did they give any hints to the location of the next con? Might need to volunteer NC to see if I can get more nerds visiting the triangle  (I may have started scouting locations as soon as I got here…)

Please do! I could probably make NC, but the European and west coast USA conferences are a little far for me.

The only thing close to a hint came from a discussion w/ Seth and the general challenges difficulties of organizing such an event. For example, the ongoing process of out how to standardize workflow/logistics so the team doesn’t have to figure things out every year.

That might allude to keeping the existing venue, but that is 100% speculation on my part.

I enjoyed your talk, and also think KiCad offers a lot of value.

I’ve been using the database feature (GitPLM/parts) to manage libraries, but you’ve convinced me to put a HTTP shim between my CSV files and KiCad – that sounds a lot cleaner and I like the UI in your tool.
