I am new, I want to ask if I want to find details of elecronic components, where can I find? You know sometimes even its original manufacturer doesn’t have details information.

Hi Luosi,

The best place/s to find datasheets and other information depends on the age and source of the parts.

  1. If you’re looking for information on most, modern parts, you’ll be well served by trying to find the part on Digikey, Mouser, Farnell or other, large distributor in your geographic area. In most cases, they will already have done the work of finding an linking (or caching) datasheets, at minimum.
  2. If you’re looking for information on parts that primarily originate from China/Asia, you’ll be well served by conducting similar searches at LCSC.
  3. Just because manufacturers do not have datasheets and other documentation on their websites does not mean that information is not available. It’s perfectly acceptable to call them, looking for additional information. They typically have staff dedicated to answering such questions.
  4. If you’re looking for vintage parts that are no longer being manufactured, and haven’t been for a number of years - and those parts may have been used in, for instance, classic computers or arcade games - then you may be able to find archives of the parts included in those machines. For example, there are impressively large archives of datasheets, etc. for Apple II and C64 systems.
  5. Failing those, Google is your friend, the default. Be prepared to search by official part number as well as by IC markings. Either may be an avenue to original documentation, or at least some characteristic behavioral/performance data, sometimes obtained by a combination of reverse Engineering and comparison with similar parts.

Best of luck with your searches. By the way, are you searching for information relating to a specific part? People on the forum here may have been exposed to the part/s of interest.

Good question. Thanks, -K
