Extremely High Speed Digital

A friend is looking for someone to do layout for a 250 gigasymbol per second digital link and asked if I knew anyone with experience at that speed.

This sounds absolutely insane to me, so I pushed back and asked if they truly meant an edge rate at a quarter terahertz. Everything I’ve seen in the Gbps range uses multiple lanes and or deeper symbols to keep the symbol rate lower than 40ish.

Anyone here with experience with this crazy edge rate?

Any bets on what the real requirements will be after getting clarification?

Hi Eric - that’s definitely some crazy speed! I’d love to throw my hat in the ring. I’ve definitely never done anything near that high-speed, but I’ve got a 20 GHz TDR and am eager to do more high-speed design simulation, if testing is out of the question.

Feel free to DM me.
